Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty of the next several months, the VCPEA Conference Committee has spent the past couple of weeks working with Kingsmill, our speakers, and our sponsors to review the possibility of rescheduling the VCPEA Conference that was to be held in August 2020. We felt a shift was critical to the success of the conference and well-being of those attending and have made the decision to shift the VCPEA Annual Conference from August 2020 to May 26-28, 2021. It was a difficult decision to reschedule, but we believe that late summer will not have any of us feeling comfortable enough to plan and attend the conference in August.
We have confirmed that both our opening and closing speakers would be available for the new dates in 2021. We will attempt to keep the rest of the agenda the same.
Individuals who have already registered and want to stay registered can participate in 2021 at the same conference rates set for this year. Additional expenses that VCPEA will incur from the venue will result in an increase in registration fees for 2021. If anyone would like a refund, just go to your order on the Tickets page in Eventbrite and choose “Request a Refund.” Fill out the form and select “Continue;” review your request and hit “Submit Refund Request.” Wait up to seven business days for your refund to be issued. We need to use “COVID-19” as the cancellation reason in order not to incur fees from Eventbrite. If you paid by check and wish to receive a refund, please contact Joyce Martin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, if you have made reservations with Kingsmill for the August 2020 date, please call them as soon as possible to cancel at 800-832-5665. The new date for reserving rooms will be announced at a later date. We will use the prevailing government room rate as published in Federal guidelines in October.
Scholarship recipients chosen for this year will still be able to use their scholarship benefits at the May 2021 conference. If you are a scholarship recipient, and know you cannot attend in May, please contact Diane Hoffman at email@example.com.
Thank you again for your support and interest in the VCPEA conference. The conference committee will share updates as we move forward. Please check our website at vcpea.org for more information as it becomes available.
We look forward to seeing you in May 2021! We have an exciting conference being planned. In the meantime, we wish you and your families all the best as we get through the days ahead. If you have questions, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
